Quick answer
A Shibuya Sky ticket is 2,700 yen, about $17, for entry before 14:59, and 3,400 yen, about $22, from 15:00 onwards. Buying at the counter on the day costs 300 yen more in both bands. There is only one kind of admission, so the decision is not which ticket to buy but which half-hour slot to book: entry is timed, slots are released fourteen days ahead at midnight Japan Standard Time, and the windows around sunset sell out within minutes. The thing most first-time visitors get wrong is booking sunset itself instead of the slot an hour before it — you can stay on the roof after your entry window, so going up earlier gets you daylight, the sunset and the lit city for one ticket.

Shibuya Sky ticket price, and the slot that sells out
There is one admission and two price bands, split at 15:00. What varies is the half-hour you enter, and that is the part that sells out. If you want sunset, book the window about an hour before it and stay up; if you only want the view, the morning slots are cheaper and far easier to get.
Guided
Tokyo tours that include Shibuya Sky tickets
Operators hold their own allocation, so a tour can be booked months ahead for a date when public tickets do not exist yet. That is the real reason to consider one. Read the inclusions rather than the title — several tours named after Shibuya Sky include only a guide, and the pages below say which is which.

What the ticket gets you
The open roof, Shibuya Crossing and Mount Fuji
One admission covers all three zones, and the roof is the reason to come.
An open roof, not a window
SKY STAGE is an open-air deck at 229 metres with no glass between you and the city, which is what separates it from every enclosed viewpoint in Tokyo.
Shibuya Crossing from directly above
The rooftop's southern corners look straight down onto the crossing. From street level it is chaos; from up there the signal cycle turns it into a system.
Mount Fuji, when the air is clear
Fuji is about 100 km south-west and visible on clean days, far more often in the cold dry months than through summer haze.
When Shibuya Sky tickets go on sale
Tickets appear fourteen days before entry, at midnight Japan Standard Time (stated independently by Klook, Trip.com, Tripadvisor and KKday, all checked 21 September 2026) — 15:00 the previous afternoon in London, 11:00 in New York, 08:00 in Los Angeles. Japan does not use daylight saving, so that conversion holds all year. The sunset windows go within minutes; the rest of the day is usually still there hours later. If your slot has gone, the counter sells same-day tickets for 300 yen more subject to availability, and a tour with its own allocation can be booked at any notice.
Shibuya Sky opening hours, and when the roof closes
The open-air level shuts for wind, lightning, rain and extreme heat. When it does, the indoor SKY GALLERY on level 46 stays open, so the attraction counts as open and neither the ticket nor a tour built around it is refunded. This is the real risk in a timed ticket bought two weeks out. Book a slot early in your trip rather than on the last evening, so a washed-out visit can be repeated.
Shibuya Sky photos: tripods, lockers and what you can carry
Bags and loose items go into lockers on level 46 before you step outside, and tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed on the observation space at all, along with travel luggage, food, drink, animals and loose hats (Go Tokyo, updated 23 April 2026). What you can carry out is a phone, your glasses, and a camera with a strap or one that fits a pocket. Large luggage will not fit the lockers up there and has to go into the coin lockers near Shibuya Station, so deal with it before you start.
Shibuya Sky or Tokyo Skytree: which view is worth it
Tokyo Skytree's upper deck is 450 m up and Shibuya Sky is 229.7 m (japan-guide.com; Wikidata P2048), and the lower one is the better visit. Skytree puts you so high that the city flattens into a map, behind glass, in a tower that is itself the landmark you would rather be looking at. Shibuya Sky is open to the sky, and its southern corners look straight down onto Shibuya Crossing. Skytree wins on height and on a clear view of Mount Fuji; Shibuya Sky wins on everything you actually came to see.
Is this the official Shibuya Sky ticket office?
No. This is an independent guide, not the official SHIBUYA SKY website or an authorized ticket seller, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the attraction or its operator. We do not sell tickets or tours and never take your payment. The tours on this site are sold exclusively through GetYourGuide: a booking button takes you to GetYourGuide's website, GetYourGuide is the final seller, and it handles payment, cancellations and refunds. As a GetYourGuide affiliate partner, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The official operator sells admission at 2,700 yen from its own site for entry before 14:59, rising to 3,400 yen from 15:00 (Go Tokyo, the official Tokyo travel guide, updated 23 April 2026), and that is the cheapest route there is. It is Japanese-only: the English URLs people share return the site's not-found page with a 200 status, so a link can look live and be nothing. If you read Japanese, or are happy with a translated checkout, buy direct and pay less than anything on this page.
- Check what a tour includes — Inclusions are set by the tour provider and can change, and a tour may or may not include SHIBUYA SKY admission. Read the full listing on GetYourGuide before you pay.
- Confirm entry conditions — Check ticket validity and entry rules with SHIBUYA SKY before you travel. Tickets from unauthorized channels can be refused at the door and may not be refunded by the attraction.
- Read the full disclosure — Who sells the tours, who your contract is with and what that means for refunds is set out on the /disclosure page.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a Shibuya Sky ticket?
2,700 yen (about $17) online for entry before 15:00, and 3,400 yen (about $22) from 15:00. Counter tickets on the day cost 300 yen more in both bands.
When do tickets go on sale?
Fourteen days before the date of entry, at midnight Japan Standard Time. The sunset slots usually sell out within minutes.
Which slot should I book for sunset?
The window starting roughly an hour before sunset. You can stay on the roof after your entry time, so that gets you daylight, the sunset and the lit city on one ticket.
Is Shibuya Sky worth it?
For a first visit to Tokyo, yes, if you get a decent slot and the weather lets the roof open. On a grey afternoon from a slot you settled for, Tokyo Tower's Main Deck at 1,500 yen or the free Sky Lobby at Shibuya Hikarie would have done.
Do children need tickets?
Children's tickets are sold only at the counter on the day of admission, and under-5s go free. The 12-plus minimum on some booking platforms is their own limit, not the attraction's.
What happens if it rains?
The open-air rooftop closes, the indoor level 46 gallery stays open, and the ticket is not refunded.
Is this the official Shibuya Sky website?
No. It is an independent guide, not the official SHIBUYA SKY site or an authorized ticket seller. The tours shown here are sold by GetYourGuide, which takes payment and handles cancellations and refunds, and this site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Official tickets are sold only on SHIBUYA SKY's own website and through its authorized partners.
